Cresskill — The Cressskill Board of Education has zeroed in on a former Parent Teacher Association president to serve as an interim board replacement.
Tricia Miraldi replaces outgoing school board member Roland Krumbein, who resigned June 21.
The school board interviewed nine candidates at Monday’s meeting before heading into closed session. The school board then nominated and appointed Miraldi in open session, said Schools Business Administrator Antoinette Kelly.
Miraldi served four years as Edward H. Bryan School PTA president, finishing her term in 2007. She is a teacher, single mother of two and 1981 graduate of Cresskill High School.
The longtime resident said Tuesday that her experience and involvement in Cresskill puts her at an advantage.
"I’ve been involved and I’ve gotten to know so many good people," she said. "And if they’re approached, they’ll help [when needed]."
Miraldi said that the interim position might help in her decision to run again in April.
"I knew eventually I would run," she said. "So I thought, ‘What the heck, I’ll give it a shot.’"
